Delighted that we have yet again performed a successful Haploidentical (half matched) Bone Marrow Transplant (BMT) on a five-year old boy with acute lymphoblastic leukaemia. In the absence of any matched sibling the child's father donated stem cells.
Haploidentical BMT is the most complex and sophisticated type of BMT. Since this is a relatively new approach, a Haploidentical Bone Marrow Transplant is a treatment option that is not offered in all treatment centres.
The procedure was successfully performed by our esteemed Dr. Vinay Vohra (Consultant - Haematology and Bone Marrow Transplant) with his team and the child was later discharged in a stable condition.
Such a proud moment for the entire SRJ-CBCC Cancer Hospital (Formerly known as CHL CBCC Cancer Center) Family.
